La Palette: The Chicago Palette – William Conger

Descriptive words are style and class. Studio is filled with large canvases and plastic dinner plates. Tubes of oil contain many images and perceptions. Each waits for the master to begin a form, which he alone first sees as an image within himself. His palette is lush and sparkles. Colors abound in patterns he imagines until a canvas catches a dream from his brush. His hand moves seizing colors leaving behind traces of what lies within and then becomes real. Taken from a humble surface by a special hand, and painting with a singular eye…taken from a place where art resides.
