La Palette: The Chicago Palette – Roger Brown

Palettes thick with pigment as deep as images that spring from cookie sheets and metal trays to canvas. Complexity of images transformed from the hills and valleys is apparent, despite mountains and caves of paint in which prescient pictures can hide. Some appear like icing on a cake. Others are smooth strokes of genius taken from palette without hesitation. Palettes of baking surfaces appear immediately appropriate for exquisite frosting ending up as vibrant images on canvas. As one rushes about his mountainous palettes, depth increases that is clearly reflected in his art.
